Public Image Ltd. Drummer Martin Atkins’ “Tour:Smart” Seminar on October 13 at Rock & Roll After School

by Washington Washington

Keeping with its mission to create opportunities for young musicians to learn from experienced ones, Rock & Roll After School is presenting a workshop on Tuesday, October 13th at 7pm featuring Public Image Ltd., and Killing Joke drummer Martin Atkins bringing to life his 2007 book Tour:Smart.

For the last 30 years, Martin Atkins has embodied the DIY spirit, most recognized for work as owner of Invisible Records, author of Tour:Smart and for his work with bands such as Public Image Limited, Pigface, The Damage Manual, Killing Joke, Ministry and Nine Inch Nails.

“Perhaps, the greatest obstacle for artists right now is standing on their own feet, rejecting the major label and industry hysteria and finding new ideas, creating momentum and looking forward,” says Atkins. “If you can sustain, you can succeed.”

Martin provides unique insight into the way the music business works from the inside out. His proven strategies cover topics ranging from music production to screen printing to touring to publishing to packaging and manufacturing.

“Martin Atkins has ‘been there and done that’ and we’re very excited that he is coming to Rock & Roll After School to share his wealth of experience with our students and others who want to pursue a career in music,” said Erin Riley, President of Rock & Roll After School.

Martin Atkins’ Tour:Smart seminar will be held at Rock & Roll After School on Tuesday, October 13th at 7pm. Admission is free. Rock & Roll After School is located in Franklin Commons, 400 Franklin Ave. #109, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
