More Original Music at PJ Ryan’s Underground This Wednesday (3/31)

by Washington Washington

This Wednesday, PJ Ryan’s Pub opens its downstairs bar, The Underground, for weekly Wednesday night shows of old favorites and new friends. This week’s lineup will rock you into April Fool’s Day with Sharis, Pam McIntyre, and Blanko Dave.

A native of Philadelphia, Sharis is a singer / songwriter, an acoustic guitarist, and an energetic performer. Her sound spans from life’s gentle songs to powerful folk-blues-funk-rock with soul-inspired vocals and a grooving edge.

Pam McIntyre, a Nashville-showcased singer-songwriter, has a style described as “smart, well arranged Alterna/Pop that sticks to you like glue” (Sterling Koch, Pennsylvania Musician Magazine). Most recently with band PUMICE, her music has enjoyed airtime on WXPN, WXLV, WDIY, WMUH, WLVR, WEEU, and Comcast TV.

Opener Blanko Dave will perform a set of solo acoustic material. The tall, nervous troubadour schtick has landed ol’ Blank another gig, so bring yer friends and sing along to a heap of originals and a cover or two.

$3 cover, 21 & over. Downstairs bar opens at 8pm. Drink specials include $2 Coors Light drafts, $3 Blue Moons, and $3 Sweet Tea Vodka drinks.

Thanks for supporting the local scene!

Yuki Yuki Yasumi at PJ Ryan’s Underground This Wednesday (3/24)

by Washington Washington

This Wednesday, PJ Ryan’s Pub opens its downstairs bar, The Underground, for weekly Wednesday night shows of old favorites and new friends. This week will feature two sets by Philadephia based Yuki Yuki Yasumi, a brand-new mix of rock and J-pop.

Yuki Yuki Yasumi (aka YukiYasu, YYY) is the stage name/solo project of Wheeling Bitch Circus front man Allan Eustace. Yuki’s debut album, “Devoured By Japanese School Girls” is a mix of metal, punk, dance, industrial, hip-hop, featuring lyrics in both English and Japanese often influenced by anime, video games, and Japanese girls in fetish oriented cosplay.

Yuki is currently hard at work on a number of follow up albums; next project Tsundere ventures into the realm of soul, do-wop, and death metal, and features lyrics about really scary women and Japanese maids (who also happen to be really scary women). This album will be released in 2010.

In addition to writing original songs, Eustace also works on his own arrangements of anime songs which he performs with his anime cover band American Bishonen.

Yuki performs live with the line up of guitarists Nathan DiDonato, Steve Romano, and bassist Andy Barndt.

Local impresario Jeff Mastroberti opens the night with his avant-garde performance art.

$3 cover, 21 & over. Show starts at 9pm, goes til midnight-ish. Downstairs bar opens at 8pm. Specials include $2 Coors Lights, $3 Blue Moons, and $3 Sweet Tea vodka drinks.
